Our Story

We are Hamish & Emily. Both teachers and parents to a (really, really) busy boy (plus one on the way). Good food, beach days & a hot coffee (or ten) are our passions!!

Being teachers we are all about finding the learning opportunities in real life experiences. So when we had our son we realised we really needed to up our play game.

Open Ended Play became our saving grace. 

We realised not only does he LOVE playing with open ended toys he stays engaged in his play for AGES! This type of play was developing his stamina for playing independently as well as developing language, curiosity and imagination. Open ended play also leaves us with some time for a (private) toilet break, and even enough time to cook dinner. 

Together we’d MAKE the invitation to play, then either PLAY together or independently and then we saw him CREATE his own experiences.

We quickly began to see that we were on a winner with our play experiences we created for him.

That’s when Make Play Create came to life.

We know what it’s like to be parents; time is lacking to get ‘the list’ done, let alone just make a meal (or even have a shower some days) and they’re the days that play gets pushed aside - BUT really those days play is NEEDED.

Our collection is made with you in mind (because we are you!), affordable, easy to setup in minutes, literally pick up and play. We like to think we have thought of everything.

With over 20 years of teaching experience between us, and a few years of parenting under our belts we’ve curated these open ended toys with a focus on FUN, LEARNING & ENGAGEMENT.
